2026: The Year We Stop Waiting for Momentum and Start Building It
Inside this week’s edition: a New Year reset, Tony’s blueprint for winning in 2026, the assessment tool behind our hiring magic, a post that encapsulated Handoff's year, and a quality + ops leader founders will want to hire yesterday.

Here’s what’s happening this week
Hey team,
Happy New Year! ¡Feliz año nuevo!
We made it.
2025 was a year of stretch, speed, and more Slack notifications than I’d like to admit… but it was also the year everything started clicking.
And before we launch ourselves full-force into 2026, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on what this next chapter looks like, for Handoff and for me personally.
On my end?
I’m excited.
Excited to write more for Handoff, not just at the copywriting level but inside the engine: shaping GTM narratives, building strategy alongside leadership, and helping our clients tell their stories with clarity and conviction.
I’m also excited to get back out into the world — CHPA Connect in February, more conferences this spring, and more time in the communities that shape the industries we touch.
And excited because 2025 gave us proof of concept.
We grew. We built. We delivered.
And now we get to scale: intentionally, sustainably, creatively.
Here’s what’s in this edition:

Winning in 2026 (Fundamentals Over Fancy)
By Anthony Gonzalez
Everyone’s out here chasing the next big growth hack for 2026.
The AI shortcut. The viral moment. The “silver bullet” workflow that promises to fix everything overnight.
But here’s the truth nobody wants to say out loud:
The people who actually win aren’t just the ones who find something new: they’re the ones who master what everyone else avoids because it feels too simple, too slow, or too boring to brag about.
Last year taught me something I didn’t expect:
In a world obsessed with acceleration, discipline is the real differentiator.
We grew six times in 2025, not because we built a magic funnel or chased the hottest trends, but because a small team did the small things with remarkable consistency.

Showing up prepared.
Keeping promises.
Following up even when the answer was no.
Documenting our work so we could scale it later.
Building relationships before we needed them.
Doing the repeatable things on repeat.
And that’s the part people overlook. Most businesses don’t fail because the strategy was wrong; they fail because the fundamentals were neglected, abandoned, or never built at all.
So if you want to beat 99% of your competition next year?
Don’t romanticize the complex. Master the obvious.
Wake up early, not to impress anyone, but to give yourself a shot at clarity before the day hijacks you.
Prepare the night before, because tomorrow you deserves that kind of respect.
Remember people’s names, because you can’t build trust if you treat relationships like transactions.
Say “no” to the shiny distractions, even when they look exciting on paper but quietly drain your time, attention, and energy.
Follow up early, then follow up again.
Most opportunities are lost not from lack of talent, but from lack of persistence.
And above all:
Refuse to make the same mistake twice.
Once is a lesson. Twice is a pattern.
Winning in 2026 won’t come from a hack, a trick, or a tool that promises to save your business.
It will come from small, seemingly boring habits, done with intention at scale.
That’s it. That’s the game.
And the best part?
You can win and still sleep at night.
