Building the Future of Work, Together: WERC Global 25 Recap

Last week, Handoff joined the global mobility community in Salt Lake City for WERC Global 25, and this year’s conference felt different.

Attendance was higher than ever, the energy was electric, and the conversations reflected an industry in motion: more tech-forward, more inclusive, and more connected than in years past.

What stood out most was the diversity of voices.

WERC has traditionally skewed older, but this year’s crowd reflected something new: a real mix of generations, backgrounds, and perspectives all shaping what comes next.

The Emerging Leaders program was a standout: bringing together rising professionals and senior executives in one room for a session that drew hundreds of people, and real engagement. Special shoutout to David Toledo at JPMorgan Chase and Jennifer Rodriguez at Ace Relocation Systems for helping bring real momentum to the room.

It was a glimpse of the future of mobility leadership in real time.

That’s a big credit to Anupam Singhal and the WERC team.

As a tech founder and true executor, he’s driving meaningful change, pushing this industry toward innovation while keeping it grounded in community and collaboration.

Salt Lake City itself brought a fresh vibe— perfectly laid out for real connection. From main stage sessions of 1,500+ attendees to hallway meetups that sparked new partnerships, this year’s event felt like a turning point.

As our momentum continues to grow, so does Handoff’s client portfolio: many of those leaders and teams were right there in the room with us. What we’re hearing is clear: whether hiring slows or costs tighten, companies are doubling down on smart, scalable ways to keep their operations moving and their people supported.

Next, we’re heading to CHPA’s Small Staff Forum 2025 (Nov 10–11 in Louisville), a focused gathering for corporate housing teams and partners tackling new challenges, opportunities, and solutions in a rapidly changing industry.

Tony’s Tools: The Real Potential of Sora

You’ve probably seen it by now: an elephant riding a motorcycle, a giraffe in a convertible, or a hippo cruising down a desert highway.

The internet’s favorite Sora trio: proof that absurdity and code can ride side by side.

All courtesy of Sora, OpenAI’s new text-to-video model.

Everyone’s talking about the absurdity of it—and yeah, I laughed too.

But after the memes fade, what Sora really represents is something huge: the moment ideas start moving.

We’ve spent years getting AI to understand language.

Now, it can visualize it: instantly, dynamically, and beautifully.

That means every business process, training, and creative concept suddenly has a new medium: motion.

Imagine being able to turn a policy doc into a 30-second explainer, or a new workflow into a visual guide, without a production team or script notes.

That’s what gets me excited.

Not the dancing animals (though, let’s be honest, the hippo on the Vespa deserves an Oscar).

It’s the signal beneath the noise: the start of a world where anyone can turn information into impact in minutes.

If you’re curious about how tools like Sora can fit into your workflow, or just want to geek out about the latest AI trends, reach out to this email directly.

Let’s talk shop.
